Architraves are fitted around entranceways as a decorative border, and are used to conceal the join between the wall and the frame of a door. It is also used to protect the edge against knocks and chips, saving on upkeep and redecoration over time. Often matched with other materials or colours for a uniform look, it is a great way to add subtle style to a room, and can easily be stained or varnished to create a bespoke design. A variety of materials are available, along with a selection of styles to enhance any interior. Opt for square-edged designs for contemporary, pared-back schemes, or choose tongue-and-groove looks which work well with heritage decors.
